I picked this up for game night with my 9-year-old and we've already played it four times this week. Juggling the pilgrim, merchant, and artist keeps every turn interesting since you can't just focus on one. The Shikoku map is small but there's more strategy hiding in it than I expected.

My kids are 9 and 11 and we’ve played this five times in one weekend—the way each character’s goal shifts the strategy keeps it fresh even after repeat rounds. Setup is quick and the Shikoku route theme makes it feel like a real journey every time.

The pilgrim, merchant, and artist each play so differently that my kid and I never get bored replaying it. It’s a clever twist on the original journey concept, and the standalone setup means we didn’t need any other game to jump right in.
